About us

Meet the Conference Collective experts…

Work with the Conference Collective, and you can be confident you’re working with true professionals when it comes to medical, scientific, research and academic conference and event organisation and association and society management.

Between us, we’ve organised hundreds of conferences and other events over 20 years — in the UK and right around the world — and there aren’t many behind-the-scenes scenarios we won’t recognise! Meet the team…

Jacinta Scannell

Jacinta Scannell

Founder and Managing Director

Widely acknowledged by her peers, Jacinta has an exceptional breadth of knowledge to draw on to help clients plan, develop and improve their events. She is a founding director of the Institute of Event Management, a past executive member of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers, and has served on the judging panel of the Meetings and Incentive Travel Industry Awards. She is also a Trustee of the Sage Gateshead, the home of the Northern Sinfonia Orchestra.  When she’s not driving the business forward, Jacinta enjoys a round of golf and hillwalking in her native Ireland.

Did you know?
Jacinta spent five years learning about wine tasting in the interest of work!

Steve Rawson

Steve Rawson

Operations Manager

Steve has recently arrived from New Zealand. He qualified as a geophysicist before beginning his working life in oil exploration. During one of the many lows in oil price he turned to the commercial side of the business and has stayed in that realm since then. He has spent most of his time in the energy sector (geothermal, electricity, gas, retail and wholesale) but expanded his horizons with stints in trading environments, information services, procurement and change management. Prior to working at the Conference Collective, Steve’s conference experience has been limited to manning booths, speaking and attending. He is looking forward to applying the skills and disciplines he has learned while working for large and listed corporations.

Did you know?
Steve has represented New Zealand in Australian Rules Football but he now prefers to chase a dimpled ball around for 18 holes.

David Nutt

David Nutt

Conference Manager

David joined the team as Conference Manager having taken a break from the world of events to pursue a personal project of working as a chef in the world of restaurants. Having decided that the events is where his passion lies, he has come back to the world of events where he can build on his experience and knowledge from previous events roles at Haymarket Media Group, AMCI Global and Reed Exhibitions. Working on all aspects of event management and production David is looking forward to the new challenges ahead.

Grit King

Grit King

PA to Jacinta Scannell

One of her key roles is organising Jacinta’s enormous workload — something for which she is ideally placed with more than 17 years’ experience in supporting CEOs, directors and senior management in different industries as well as organising and supporting management and sales conferences. She is highly organised, efficient and can work under pressure — qualities that are greatly welcome at the busy Conference Collective!

She does not shy away from a challenge and is very much looking forward to gaining more experience in the conference world.
